Why the survey? For the past 7 years we've hosted Pathway Youth on Friday nights primarily at Rhema. Over the past few years, our rental agreement has changed (due in part to Rhema's growth in enrollment) and we've lost much of our access and long-term room use. Our Wallace Point Road facility has seen permitting delays, so it will not be available for at least half of the school year. Also, we've noticed Friday nights have been trickier for teens (particular Sr Hights) and leaders to navigate, so we're exploring other nights of the week for our regular weekly gathering.
Specifically here's what we've found:
- teens are more likely to be out of town for extracurriculars, travel sports, or family events on Friday than other weeknights
- highschool teens are more likely to be scheduled for a work shift or have a competing social event on Fridays
- leaders have priorities in family, life and work that make it more difficult to be there every Friday night over multiple years than other nights of the week
Because of this, we've been exploring other temporary locations in Peterborough besides Rhema as well as exploring our options for night of the week. Thanks for your input along the way!
